Port Mac Ironman Triathlon

The Ironman triathlon is my absolute favourite race to watch. Yes it's a bloody long day - starts at about 6:30am and the last person crosses the line about 10pm, and everyone, including the professionals, wait for the last competitor to cross the line.

It's awesome because they have live streaming over the internet, so we have that running on the tv, and while it's nowhere near as good as being there, it's great to be able to watch! The live coverage is very impressive as well, great commentary and the footage is pretty high quality.

There's a bunch of my old tri buddies racing including Stuart Bardsley, who races as pro, and looks as though he's 7th pro at the moment, and he should be almost done by now. If he finishes 7th it will be his highest placed finish, so I'm still cheering!!!!

His partner Jennifer is also racing in the 25-29 age group, and looks as though she's holding down third place in her category which is AWESOME, as this is her first ever full ironman, and she's kicking ass!

The gorgeous Zoe is racing as well in her first ironman and also doing fantastic from what I can tell, and seems to be looking really strong - go Zoe!!!

This truly is an amazing race to be at, the atmosphere is like nothing else, there's people from all walks of life of all ages, and its the sort of race that consumes your life with the training for a very long time, and the emotion at the finish line runs at an all time high.

Anyway, back to the race.... :)

OMG I'm pregnant!

Hehehe. So I did 7 at home pregnancy tests, including one at the doctors office, and the last one being at around 6 1/2 weeks. They all showed up negative.

This has always kinda bothered me, and I was in Safeway tonight and was walking past the pregnancy tests, and I figured I'd get one and try again - surely by 12 weeks it'd show I'm pregnant right??

Well.... drumroll.... yes I AM pregnant! Finally a positive bloody at home test!!! Yes, I know I am lame. :p

Up the duff!!

Yup, I’m almost 11 weeks pregnant! The little one is due on October 12, and yes, we’ll be finding out whether it’s a boy or a girl as soon as it’s got distinguishable “bits” :)

I’ve really been struggling with nausea for most of the time, but it seems to be easing off a bit now which is nice! I’ve lost about 5 kilos due to just not being able to eat, but I’m starting to be able to eat again which is nice – I’ve been a little worried about not getting enough of the right things for little PJ (Pollock Junior), but I’m sure it’ll all be fine.

I’ve started having every man and his dog (or maybe every woman and her cat…?) give me advice about pregnancy and babies and the like, and I just want to say now – I don’t know how I’m going to last another 7 months of that – especially when I actually start showing!! Heh. I was in the grocery store the other day and the lady in front of me was very pregnant, and the checkout chick was doling out pregnancy advice to her the entire time. The look on the poor woman’s face said it all :)

It’s all very exciting though, and every week I get my baby development newsletter from www.babycenter.com to tell me what’s developing this week – it’s pretty fascinating! If you’re interested – little PJ should be close to 4cm long and weighs about 6 grams at the moment.

Apart from that things are good - work’s going well, incredibly busy, and also studying still. I was doing 2 subjects but decided that would be too much, so dropped one of the subjects which I’m glad I did! Life is crazy busy trying to stay healthy and fit it all in.

We’ve done a bit of travelling – we went to Las Vegas for Christmas, and New York in February for a long weekend. Andrew has blogged about these here and here if you’re interested. Andrew’s parents get here in a month, and will be in the US for 3 weeks and doing a fair bit of travelling – we’ll show them all the local sights, and take them to the Grand Canyon which will be cool!

We’re also heading off to Dublin in June and will both work from the Dublin office for the week (Andrew has a conference in Edinburgh the week before, then I’ll fly over and we’ll meet in Dublin). The main purpose is to renew our work visas for the US, which we have to leave the country to do. I haven’t been to Ireland, so that’ll be fun! We won’t get much time there, but I have a bus trip planned for the one weekend day I’m there which will be great. That’ll be our last big trip as “DINK’s” :)

So I’ll try to keep my blog more updated in how things are going. I won’t make any promises, but I will try!
