Up the duff!!

Yup, I’m almost 11 weeks pregnant! The little one is due on October 12, and yes, we’ll be finding out whether it’s a boy or a girl as soon as it’s got distinguishable “bits” :)

I’ve really been struggling with nausea for most of the time, but it seems to be easing off a bit now which is nice! I’ve lost about 5 kilos due to just not being able to eat, but I’m starting to be able to eat again which is nice – I’ve been a little worried about not getting enough of the right things for little PJ (Pollock Junior), but I’m sure it’ll all be fine.

I’ve started having every man and his dog (or maybe every woman and her cat…?) give me advice about pregnancy and babies and the like, and I just want to say now – I don’t know how I’m going to last another 7 months of that – especially when I actually start showing!! Heh. I was in the grocery store the other day and the lady in front of me was very pregnant, and the checkout chick was doling out pregnancy advice to her the entire time. The look on the poor woman’s face said it all :)

It’s all very exciting though, and every week I get my baby development newsletter from www.babycenter.com to tell me what’s developing this week – it’s pretty fascinating! If you’re interested – little PJ should be close to 4cm long and weighs about 6 grams at the moment.

Apart from that things are good - work’s going well, incredibly busy, and also studying still. I was doing 2 subjects but decided that would be too much, so dropped one of the subjects which I’m glad I did! Life is crazy busy trying to stay healthy and fit it all in.

We’ve done a bit of travelling – we went to Las Vegas for Christmas, and New York in February for a long weekend. Andrew has blogged about these here and here if you’re interested. Andrew’s parents get here in a month, and will be in the US for 3 weeks and doing a fair bit of travelling – we’ll show them all the local sights, and take them to the Grand Canyon which will be cool!

We’re also heading off to Dublin in June and will both work from the Dublin office for the week (Andrew has a conference in Edinburgh the week before, then I’ll fly over and we’ll meet in Dublin). The main purpose is to renew our work visas for the US, which we have to leave the country to do. I haven’t been to Ireland, so that’ll be fun! We won’t get much time there, but I have a bus trip planned for the one weekend day I’m there which will be great. That’ll be our last big trip as “DINK’s” :)

So I’ll try to keep my blog more updated in how things are going. I won’t make any promises, but I will try!

And no, I'm not going to give you any pregnancy advice ;-)

WOW - Congratulations Sarah (and to Andrew - I suppose it's 2 to tango and all that ...)

Great news Sarah - keep us up to date with all the great news as it unfolds.

Incidentally, not sure if you kept up to date with CR anymore - Clairie just declared she's pregnant yesterday as well!

Congratulations Sarah! That's great news.

I hope it all goes well. There's a great youtube video of a 'prenancy in 30 seconds' or something. If only it were that quick.

Congratulations Sarah and Andrew... You don't know me but I found your blogs when searching for E3 visa info, and I continued to read for advice etc etc. We have recently also completed the move from Australia to San Francisco.

Anyway, congratulations and all the best.

Hey Sarah

You think the advice is bad while pregnant wait until little PJ is born. I don't remember how many people would tell me how to be a mother. Generally it ws to tell me I was wrong or to tell me I was too young to be a mother (at 23 go figure) or how I could do things better. It's enough to drive you nuts.

When I had Matt 6 weeks premature it was the worst. Funny thing is only 3 of the people giving advice had been the parents of a premature baby. I was much better at telling people to go away than I when I had Andrew.

One day I told a lady who really p#ssed me off "when I want your opinion I'll give it to you" a sleep deprived mother is a dangerous thing to mess with (I did appologise and all was good).

Anyway let us know if you need anything or if you need any advice been there done that twice and I am always happy to help.

Congrats to you both.

Oh shit - I think I might have been passing on a little too much "advice". My lips are sealed from now on. I promise!

It was all with the best of intentions *skulks into the corner*
